Mike's Bio
Mike "Hot Licks" Hilliard is a seasoned professional recording engineer with an illustrious career spanning over 50 years. Hailing from Toronto, Mike made his mark on the music scene when he relocated to Kamloops in 1974. After honing his craft in Vancouver and throughout the B.C. interior, Mike and his band signed a record deal with Intercan and RCA records, leading him back to his hometown of Toronto. For the next eight years, he embarked on a remarkable journey, recording and touring across Canada, the USA, and Asia.
During this time, Mike achieved great success with Steamer's hit song "Don't Say Goodbye," which soared to the top 10 on the hot AC charts. His talent caught the attention of renowned Canadian musicians such as Colin James, Steppenwolf, Powder Blues, The Guess Who, Sugarloaf, and Stonebolt, resulting in memorable collaborations and performances on stage.
Although primarily celebrated for his fiery guitar licks, Mike's passion for sound production has always burned brightly. While on the road, he immersed himself in all aspects of sound engineering, acquiring extensive training and expertise. Today, he is regarded as a master in Studio One, Melodyne, and Ozone, tools that allow him to work wonders in the studio. Mike's exceptional ability to make tracks sparkle has gained him a well-deserved reputation throughout Canada.

He understands the intricacies of bringing out the best in an artist's voice, ensuring every note is captured flawlessly.
